Therefore, the PPG Wave 2.V was only automatable through MIDI Control Change messages in certain hosts while offering native automation capabilities in others. Nowadays, most hosts offer far more than 256, 128 or even only 64 automatable parameters with a sufficient bit resolution. Therefore we changed the automation scheme to report all meaningful parameters of all 8 sounds to the host. This means that the PPG Wave 2.V should now behave well in all hosts and not try to trick them (which sometimes failed when these hosts were upgraded to newer versions).
Old automations, however, should still work. Also, automating the PPG Wave 2.V through MIDI Control Change messages still works. But new automation recordings are reported to the hosts with the new format. If the host you use has problems listening to automation data of the PPG Wave 2.V, please contact the host manufacturer.
Hiding the keyboard Some hosts might show graphic garbage when hiding the keyboard in the editor of the PPG Wave 2.V. If you encounter this problem in your particular host, just leave the keyboard shown. If you accidentally hid the keyboard, press Keyb. Again to show the keyboard, close the editor window and open it again. We are working on this issue.
Loading old PPG Wave 2.V Sounds or Banks in Ableton Live It has come to our attention that loading old Sounds or Banks in Ableton Live doesn’t work correctly. This affects the files saved with the PPG Wave 2.V version 1.2.1 and lower.
This problem cannot be solved by us but must be taken care of by Ableton. If you have such Sounds, Banks, or even Session files, please contact us. We might be able to restore your work but we cannot promise. We are in contact with Ableton to solve this problem. Changes for PPG Wave 2.V 1.2.3 • – Fixed problem with saving and loading of Sounds and Banks on Intel processors. The resulting files had some wrong values that might result in wrong behaviour or crashes when loading.
Note that the PPG Wave 2.V 1.2.3 can load these erroneous Sounds or Banks and saves them back properly if wanted. • – [Mac AudioUnit only] Fixed problem in Logic where the PPG Wave 2.V assigned up to 32 outputs when run as a multi out instrument. On these outputs, digital noise might have occured. Changes for PPG Wave 2.V 1.2.4 • – The Factory Soundbanks are now included in the new sound bank format. This fixes the problem of loading old Sounds or Banks in Ableton Live. • – [Mac AudioUnit only] Added workaround for possible crash in very old versions of Ableton Live.
